Summer Cooling Program begins on July 1st
The Trumbull
Community Action Program announces the beginning of the Summer
Cooling Crisis Program available July 1st through August
31st, 2010. The Summer Crisis Program (SCP) is designed
to help qualified households pay for summer cooling. This program
applies to households who have a member who is at least 60 years
old; or who can provide physician documentation of medical
necessity. Eligible households receive a one time payment assistance
of $175.00 applied toward the electric utilities costs of summer
cooling. The benefit must result in continuation of service for 30
days and/or receipt of a fan or A/C. You do not have to be enrolled
in PIPP or have a disconnection notice to be eligible for the Summer
Crisis Program. One air conditioning unit provided per household for
households that have not received an air conditioning unit in the
last 3 years.
A disconnection notice is not required to receive assistance on
your electric bill!
Customers must
provide:

photo identification
-
social security cards for all
dependent household members with no social security number on their
photo id

the last
3 months of income statements for all household
members
-
utility bills or fuel receipts
-
Both gas and electric bills or bulk
fuel receipt are required
-
proof of disability (if
disabled) for the Energy Assistance credit
Customers must have all
the necessary documents to be seen for an interview.

Customers in need of utility assistance
who do not meet the eligibility guidelines may pay the utility
company directly.
