WARREN - The Trumbull Community Action Program is offering a summer recreation program for local children ages 7 to 13, offering recreational activities, educational tutoring and field trips.

Programs are held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday through July 31 at the main building, 1230 Palmyra Road S.W.

Among the activities planned are sports, weekly visits to the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, fishing, a talent show, car wash, computers, and trips to local attractions, such as the fire station, Kent State University Trumbull Campus theater department, and Noon in the Park.

Nick Jennings, human resource/public relations director, said, ''This a safe place where people can bring their children. Our Head Start staff is on hand helping this summer.''

A key component is the educational aspect of the program with tutoring provided in math and reading, he said. Public speaking has also been added to help in developing skills the children will need for school, Jennings said.

''We want to keep the children busy while having them enjoy themselves,'' he said.

Students will be involved with the talent show from set design to acts, he said.

Students will also spend a day helping to clean up Quimby Park.

Jennings said there is no cost for children to attend with breakfast and lunch provided by Warren City Schools.
